Release history
Changelog
Every milestone since the first release, newest first.
Small patches and internal work are folded into the release they belong to,
so what you see here is what actually changed in the editor.
Security
- Cleaning up unreferenced upload files is now limited to administrators and never touches a file that still belongs to an image in your library.
- Reading an image's embedded photo details, such as camera information and capture location, now requires edit rights on that specific image.
New
- New bundled studio: Chaos Art. A society of autonomous painters makes one-of-a-kind abstract art in deep 3D space - gestures with attack and release, art movements from Impressionism to Minimalism, painterly media from watercolor to ink sketch, a self-directed mode, a snapshot ring so no moment is lost, a process film, and live embeds that paint a new original for every visitor. There is no seed: no piece can ever be painted twice.
- Spectral.js pigment mixing credited in the bundled libraries list; readme screenshots refreshed.
New
- White chalk: the dry media gained a scattering body, so light pigment covers the ground the way real chalk does - white pastel highlights on black paper, grainy on the tooth, building up layer by layer. Dark charcoal absorbs exactly as before, and watercolor and ink stay true to their transparent selves - their white is the paper.
New
- Pen tilt: leaning the stylus answers per medium, with no dial to set. Charcoal and pastel on their side lay a broad, light, soft-edged mark - the classic shading grip; a flatter brush paints wider and wetter with its belly, a flat knife spreads its load thinner. A mouse has no tilt to report and keeps painting upright.
Fixed
- Quick export commits wet paint first, the way the export dialog always did. A wash still drying on the canvas used to be missing from the quickly exported file.
New
- Stroke smoothing: the brush point trails the pointer on a pulled string, so hand wobble never reaches the paint and hard corners round into clean curves before any color is laid down. The Smoothing dial sets the string's length, the feel is the same at every zoom, and the stroke finishes to the exact point you release.
New
- Right-click is the painter's palette: a color wheel, the eighteen colors you used last, an eyedropper that picks up the color under the pointer, and Size and Opacity with scrubbable numbers - all under the cursor while you paint. With wet paint on the canvas it also offers Dry now.
New
- Pastel, the tenth painting style: dry, soft pigment that catches on the paper's tooth and builds up in grainy layers - charcoal's gentler sibling.
New
- Star symmetry: strokes repeat around the center of the canvas with three, five, six, eight or twelve arms, next to the vertical, horizontal and fourfold mirrors. Mandalas and rosettes paint themselves.
Improved
- The tool options bar carries what a stroke needs: Paper moved in next to Symmetry, Flow lives in the brush panel, and the smudge tool settles sooner after the stroke ends.
New
- Paper belongs to the document: hot press, cold press, rough, canvas or laid. Washes granulate into the chosen surface, the paste media show its weave in their relief, the dry media catch on its tooth.
New
- Oil smears in the direction you pull: paint already on the canvas is dragged along the stroke into streaks, the way a loaded bristle brush pulls through wet paint. A dial sets how strong the pull is.
New
- The smudge style runs inside the wet simulation: it brings almost no paint of its own, lifts the colors it crosses, blends them like a wet fingertip and sets them back down - dragging blue through yellow leaves green.
New
- A Pickup dial for every wet style: how strongly fresh paint lifts and carries the color already dried on the layer, from a faint tint with acrylic to heavy dragging with oil.
New
- The water brush: water without pigment. Dried color loosens, bleeds and moves again under it; a fresh wash thins and spreads. The oldest watercolor technique there is.
New
- Pen pressure drives the wet media: with a stylus, pressure sets the stroke's width and how much water and pigment it carries, tuned per medium. Mouse strokes keep painting at full strength.
New
- Media brushes: three matched brushes for every painting style - bristle rounds and flats, torn chalk, knife edges, scratchy nibs - real, irregular tips that rotate to follow the stroke. They stand at the head of the tip list and change with the style.
Improved
- The brush panel fits small screens: nothing scrolls sideways, and every dial can be scrubbed on its label or its number for an exact value.
New
- Wet strokes wake the paint beneath them: water loosens dried color back into the wash, the paste media pick up what they cross and carry it along. Blue over dried yellow makes green - between strokes, not only within one.
New
- A wash lies over the artwork like a glaze: the layer underneath shines through and mixes with the wash like pigment, so yellow under blue reads green and thin color over white stays luminous.
Changed
- The wet styles split into three engines, each with its own physics on the graphics card: liquid for watercolor and ink, paste for gouache, acrylic and oil, dry for charcoal. A wash flows, pools and blooms; paste holds relief, sheen and knife marks; charcoal breaks on the paper's tooth.
Improved
- Fast strokes render clean at any speed, the painted surface shows its grain at full resolution, and a fresh editor starts with a red brush and continuous spacing - the first stroke is a line, not a row of dots.
Improved
- Colors mix like paint, not like light: yellow and blue make green, red and green make brown, in every painting style. Each medium carries its own character and its own dials - water and pigment for the washes, load and body for the paste media, pressure and grain for the dry ones.
Improved
- The wet simulation runs on the graphics card: large washes stay fluid, and what you see while the paint is wet is exactly what dries into the layer.
New
- Wet watercolor: a stroke stays liquid on the canvas - pigment drifts with the water, gathers toward the edges, dries darker at the rim and settles into the paper's grain, live while you paint. The dried wash lands in the layer as one undo step.
Security
- Creating a shared media folder or tag asks for the same right as renaming or deleting one, and the buttons stay hidden from people who may not use them.
Improved
- Every bundled component names its source next to its license, down to the AI labelling emblems and the background-removal model.
Security
- Where an image is used is answered only to people allowed to edit that very image, and the answer leaves out posts the person asking may not read.
Improved
- The arrows in the large preview sit at the window's edges and stay put while you click through a folder, and a Download button saves the original next to Copy file URL.
New
- A File data tab shows what is actually inside an image - camera, lens, editing software, the place it was taken - with coordinates turned into a place name on your own server, nothing sent anywhere.
- Two buttons take it back out: one removes just the location, one clears every embedded block. Both work by byte surgery on the original and every generated size, so the picture keeps its exact quality.
New
- The European Commission's AI labelling emblems ship with the editor: one tick on save places the emblem you choose, in your color and corner, and a second tick records the disclosure in the file's metadata. The editor never inspects your work and never suggests one - it stays out of the way until you ask.
Improved
- New layers land where you are working: directly above the layer you picked instead of on top of the whole stack. Grouping keeps the order your layers had, whichever way you selected them.
New
- AI 3D generation runs on Meshy 7: geometry follows the reference image far more closely, an Ultra quality level runs the extra refinement pass, and newer models keep their full detail instead of being reduced afterwards.
New
- Five painting styles that mix pigment instead of blending it, next to the plain one that was always there. Blue over yellow becomes green, which ordinary blending never gives you. Watercolor runs out along the stroke, creeps past the bristles and dries darker at the rim; Gouache is its opaque cousin; Acrylic stands proud of the sheet with a lit side, a shadowed side and a satin sheen; Oil holds a lot, gives out slowly and drags what it crosses; Smudge brings no paint of its own and pushes around what is already there.
- A brush panel that floats over the canvas, opens with any paint tool and stays where you put it. The tips are shown as rendered strokes rather than as names, in groups, drawn by the engine that will paint them. Beside them sit the styles, the four numbers you reach for constantly, the tip's own scatter and spacing, and a color wheel.
- You can draw your own brush tip, out of discs, rings, stars, polygons, bars, leaves and arcs, holes included. It is kept as a recipe rather than as pixels, so it stays editable, renders crisp at any size, and travels inside the document. Tips can also be saved across documents.
- Color no longer has to be one flat value. Jitter gives every mark a shade of its own, which is what stops a stroke reading as printed by a machine. Gradient runs a multi-stop ramp along the stroke and can repeat it, turning around at each end so a repeat leaves no seam.
- Eleven more shapes: triangle, diamond, pill, arch, shield, tag, ribbon, cross, bolt, music note and a blob.
Improved
- A finished stroke goes into the layer you have selected, the way it does in every other editor. Where a new layer is still wanted, an option at the foot of the brush panel does that, and a new layer arrives directly above the active one instead of on top of everything. A stroke also ends where you lift the pointer rather than trailing past it, and it no longer redraws itself while you drag.
- The shape tool shows shapes instead of naming them: the dropdown of names is a grid of previews, drawn from the same path data the canvas fills.
- The Eraser takes the brush's tips. Erasing through a texture is a technique, and the eraser was the only paint tool that could not do it. Its panel no longer offers a color wheel either, which never changed anything about erasing.
- Extensions API 2.20: the stamp recipe engine, the editor's own shape library, its multi-stop gradient bar as a mountable control, and a one-field prompt dialog. All four are things the editor already had and only extensions could not reach.
Fixed
- In German the brush panel offered a "Streudiagramm" slider and in French a "Nuage de points". One word served both the brush setting and the chart type, and the translation had settled on the chart.
New
- Extensions can ask the editor how far away things are in a picture. The depth model has been running here since v1.27 to blur backgrounds, but an extension that wanted to sort by distance rather than by brightness had no way to reach it. Papercut Art builds its paper stack from it. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is sent anywhere, and where the model is not installed extensions carry on without it.
Changed
- The extension category "3D & Mockups" is now "3D & Scenes". It was named after one of its three members back when it had three; it has ten, and all of them build something you can turn and light. The editor menu and the extension list also disagreed on the name, and now do not.
Fixed
- In the browser version on wunderpaint.com the map studios drew an empty canvas. Map data and place search had no service behind them there at all, which stayed hidden because the search failed first and looked like the cause.
New
- Place search answers from the editor itself. An index of 34,079 cities ships with the plugin, so searching for a town is instant and needs no network lookup. A house number, a lake or a mountain pass still goes to OpenStreetMap.
- One index for every map studio instead of a copy inside each one, so they can no longer drift apart.
Fixed
- Measured building heights reached the editor as nothing. The map data carried them, the step that reads it only understood text, and every number in it was discarded. A height the map data merely guessed is now left out rather than passed off as measured.
Improved
- Place search answers from the editor itself. The index of 34,079 cities moved out of Map Posters and into the plugin, so every map extension searches offline instead of waiting on a network lookup, and there is one index for all of them instead of one copy each. A house number, a lake or a mountain pass still goes to OpenStreetMap, as before.
New
- Map data carries the third dimension: building heights and minimum heights, roof shapes, the setback sections of towers, individual trees, and which roads are bridges.
- Buildings travel at a finer coordinate precision, which is what a wall seen from close up needs.
Changed
- Nineteen studios come with the plugin instead of being installed one at a time: Map Posters, Star Map Posters, Route Visualizer, Soundwave Art, Photo Mosaic, Text Art, Puzzle Sheets, Party Printables, Stitch Patterns, Drawing Templates, Origami, Day Ring, Papercut Art, Marble Bath, Mystic Studio, Seamless Patterns, Handwriting Fonts, Code Shot and Reformat. A new one arrives with the next update.
- The Extensions screen is a library: what you have, and a switch per entry. Browsing, installing and removing packages is the Pro add-on's job.
New
- Without an API key of your own, text features and plain image generation run through the AI provider configured in WordPress 7.0. A key entered here always takes precedence.
- Extension API 2.14: the editor's confirmation dialog and its API-version gate are available to add-ons.
New
- Papercut Art: sheets of cut paper that carry real objects, with a proof that every shape could actually be cut.
- Extension API 2.13: studios can reach the on-device subject cutout, the same model the free tools use, with nothing uploaded anywhere.
New
- The editor announces a
wpie:file-savedevent whenever an export leaves the app, for anyone who wants to count or log their own exports. Nothing in the plugin listens to it.
New
- Background Studio gains four kinds of background: topographic contour lines, a halftone dot raster, concentric rings and scattered confetti, each with its own sliders.
- Three of them can be saved as a seamless pattern. Rings radiate from one centre and cannot repeat, so they stay out of it.
Improved
- Stock photos credit the photographer and the source together, each leading where it should. Choosing a photo tells the provider it was used, which is how photographers get counted.
Fixed
- Background Studio's style picker cut off its last entries mid-word once there were eight kinds to show.
New
- Background Studio has four new kinds of background. Topographic draws nested contour lines like a map, halftone a dot raster that grows along one direction the way print does, rings concentric circles from a point, and confetti a scatter of small shapes. Each brings its own handful of sliders and works with the palette, the grain and the variation button exactly like the four that were already there.
Improved
- Three of the new backgrounds can be saved as a seamless pattern. The topographic field is built from whole numbers of periods so it meets itself at the edge, halftone swings its ramp back on itself, and confetti draws every piece at the neighbouring offsets as well. Rings radiate from one centre and cannot repeat, so they stay out of it.
- Stock photos credit the photographer and the source together, with the name leading to their profile and the source to the provider. Choosing a photo also tells the provider it was used, which is how photographers get counted.
New
- The classic editor can open images in WunderPaint. WordPress' Image Details dialog was the one place the button could never appear; it now sits next to Edit Original and Replace.
Improved
- Stock searches are remembered for six hours and shared, so opening the Asset Library tray costs a provider quota almost nothing and the pictures are there at once.
- An answer that comes from that memory no longer counts against the search limit, which used to refuse the visitor while protecting nothing.
New
- The editor speaks Dutch, next to English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
Improved
- Code Shot, Day Ring, Molecule Studio and Solar System Studio are translated for the first time.
Fixed
- Four studios kept language-dependent data outside their dictionaries, which a new language does not reach on its own: compass points in Star Map, starter words in Puzzle Sheets, the sample sentence in Handwriting Fonts and the public holidays in Calendar.
Improved
- An Update all button in the Updates view, so several pending extension updates no longer have to be clicked one at a time.
- About WunderPaint lists every external service the plugin can contact, next to the licence texts.
Improved
- With Pro active, the Extension Manager installs and updates free extensions in one click as well, not only the Pro ones.
Improved
- The 360° panorama viewer grew up: eased camera flights, auto-rotate that pauses while you interact, a compass that flies back to the start view, fullscreen, pinch and double-tap zoom, and a gyro button on phones.
- The embed opens as a blurred poster with a 360° badge and boots WebGL only when it becomes visible.
- Hotspots take icon markers with hover labels and info cards, plus a Horizon slider for tilted AI horizons and a Brand Kit logo on the floor.
New
- 360° Panorama: walk through any equirectangular image, repair the AI wrap seam, place linked hotspots and copy a self-contained HTML embed — the viewer ships inline, no plugin needed on the page.
- Editable vector: the image model draws flat artwork and the local tracer turns it into real, editable shape layers.
- Design Review: an art director's verdict on the design in front of you, with the few changes that would matter most.
- Improve Text: five stronger alternatives for the selected text layer, same language and length — pick one and it swaps in.
New
- Five one-click looks in the AI panel, all running locally: Product Shot, Neon Rim, Speed Blur, Depth Fog and Miniature.
New
- Collage & Photo Grid: a handful of photos becomes a grid, a justified mosaic, tilted polaroids with captions, a filmstrip or a contact sheet, inserted as an editable group where every photo stays a real layer.
- Recrop thumbnails: place the crop window yourself, per image and per size, with a local subject-aware auto-frame. Only the generated size files are rewritten, the original is never touched.
- Text Behind Subject: the magazine look in one click — the subject is cut out locally and an editable headline slides in between background and subject.
New
- QR codes for money and time: Payment (Girocode) encodes a SEPA transfer that banking apps open pre-filled, Calendar event puts an appointment straight into the phone. Both take dynamic variables.
- A scan-me frame with a caption bar in any colour, drawn outside the quiet zone so it never costs readability.
Improved
- An actual QR reader decodes every rendered preview, so the dialog says plainly whether the code reads instead of guessing from contrast.
Improved
- The Properties panel reads like a panel again: long sections cluster under small captions (Font, Fill, Spacing, Decorations for text) and are ordered by how often you reach for them.
- Blending Options picks styles in a compact two-column grid; every active style edits below under its own caption instead of pushing the list around while you work.
- Every slider in the panels carries a value readout.
Improved
- Radial Repeat appears in the floating bar above the selection and in the right-click menu the moment the pivot has been moved.
- The corner grips are legible on dark and on blue artwork again, and the text spacing grips carry icons so it is clear which one does what.
New
- Text spacing is something you pull: three grips on the text box set the measure, the space between lines and the space between letters — the width grip changes the measure and lets lines wrap at their own size instead of scaling the type.
- The vignette preview takes the wheel: turn to resize, hold Shift to soften, drag to move the centre.
New
- Layers turn around a point you choose: drag the crosshair anywhere, even outside the layer, and rotation orbits that point. Double-click puts it back.
- Radial Repeat: set the pivot, say how many copies and how far they spread, and a rosette, a clock face or a compass rose is built in one step.
New
- Gradients are edited on the artwork: the axis is drawn across the shape with a grip that aims it and a dot for every colour stop.
- Throw a shadow instead of typing it — grab its grip and pull for direction and distance in one gesture, Shift snapping to 15 degrees. Inner shadow and gradient overlay use the same grip.
New
- Polygons and stars round their corners too, and a star's waist is something you pull. Both have grips on the canvas.
- Corner smoothing for every roundable shape: turn it up and the curve blends into the edges, the shape that makes an app icon look soft rather than merely rounded.
Fixed
- Shapes with baked geometry export as their real outline — a rounded hexagon used to leave the SVG export as a sharp polygon.
New
- Round the corners of a rectangle or an image by dragging, right on the canvas. Pull one grip and all four follow, hold Alt and only that corner bends — canvas, vector path and SVG export draw all four the same way.
Improved
- Extension dialogs close with Escape, so no studio can trap you in a window whose only way out is the small cross in the corner.
New
- The editor shows what it is about to do: hovering with the Move or Select tool draws a faint frame around exactly what a click would grab.
- Marching ants explain themselves — every marquee or lasso selection brings a small bar with its next steps: copy to a new layer, fill, feather, invert, deselect.
- Dynamic template layers announce themselves on the canvas with a small chip, so it is obvious what WordPress will fill in and what is structure.
Improved
- When nothing seems to happen, the editor says why: a click outside the active selection or an edit on a hidden layer brings a short note, and a locked or hidden layer offers a one-click Show or Unlock.
Fixed
- The rubber-band select finally selects what you aim at: membership is decided by visible pixels inside the rectangle instead of bounding boxes, so a full-canvas vignette no longer makes every marquee select everything.
- Locked groups protect their contents, and clicks fall through them to what lies beneath.
- Perspective-warped layers are hit where they are drawn, and the empty box corners stop swallowing clicks.
New
- The layers panel accepts image drops: drag a photo from the tray or a file from your desktop onto the layer list and it lands exactly where the indicator points, including straight into a group.
Fixed
- Dropping an image to replace another lands where you mean it to: with a layer selected the drop replaces that layer whatever sits on top, and without a selection it looks at actual pixels instead of bounding boxes. A dashed frame shows the target while you drag, Alt still inserts as a new layer.
- Clicking through overlays works the same way: a full-canvas vignette no longer swallows every click on the artwork underneath.
Improved
- The extension manager has room now: a wide two-pane dialog with your library and the catalogue's categories on the left, cards on the right and one search across all of it. Every extension opens into its own page with the full description, the preview at size and every action in one place.
Improved
- Live demo links open the exact feature you clicked, not just the demo's front door — the editor's own features now carry deeplink names the way extensions always did.
New
- The editor has its own language, set under Help or in Settings and independent of the WordPress admin around it. All six languages that ship with the plugin are available even on an English-only install, and switching keeps a snapshot of unsaved work and restores it silently.
Improved
- The blend modes were the last piece of the layer panel still stuck in English. Multiply, Screen, Overlay and the thirteen others now carry their names in all five translations.
Improved
- Deleting images from the library really is reversible: they go to the same holding area the clean-up tool uses, the files stay put for the grace period and one click brings them back.
- Recording a loop as video works in Safari — it records MP4 where WebM cannot be written, and says so where a browser can record nothing at all.
Fixed
- Brand kits can no longer disappear on save. A site holding more kits than it may currently show used to overwrite the whole set with the one kit on screen.
Improved
- Brand kits no longer require full administrator rights, so an editor can keep the colours, fonts and logo up to date without being handed the keys to everything else.
New
- Knowing whether an image is safe to delete: the detail panel lists every place it is actually used, with a link to each one — post and page content, custom fields and page builder layouts, product galleries, the site logo and other theme settings, category images and your own saved designs.
- Clean up the library gathers images nothing points at, files with no library entry behind them and originals larger than any size the site delivers. Nothing is deleted on the spot: entries move to a holding area and anything that turns out to be in use puts itself back.
- Replace an image without breaking anything — keep the filename and every address stays valid, or give it a new one and the places that referenced it are updated individually. A different shape offers a crop locked to the original proportions.
- Origin, creator, licence and an expiry date per image, prefilled from the file's own IPTC data on upload, with a warning before a licence runs out.
Improved
- The Unused smart folder used to guess from recent posts and one class name; it now runs on the same reference check as the panel.
- The image detail view splits details, usage and licence across tabs, and every dialog in the media library manager wears the same shell as the rest of the editor.
Fixed
- Downloaded fonts survive a site move. The font stylesheet referenced each face by its full address, so a migration, a staging-to-live switch or a domain change left every downloaded font unreachable; it points at them relatively now.
Improved
- Accessibility: every field label in the editor names its control, including the sliders and colour swatches in the properties, adjustments and effects panels. Grouped controls announce themselves as a named group, and clicking a label focuses its field.
Fixed
- The export dialog quietly re-rendered your whole document in the background every time you touched format, quality or scale, for a figure it never showed. Exporting is much lighter now, especially on large canvases.
- Text selection asks the document it actually lives in, which keeps it correct when the editor is opened inside another frame.
Fixed
- Extension packs follow your accent, warning and success colours again instead of quietly falling back to the default blue.
- Inserting a grouped design from an extension no longer lists its parts twice, so a guide or a chart cannot end up drawn on top of itself.
Changed
- A package built for a different major version of the extension API is refused with a clear notice instead of loading and breaking halfway through.
Fixed
- SVG logos that carry no width and height — the usual Illustrator and Affinity export — behave like every other image again: they can be selected and moved, they keep their size while you zoom, and they stay vector and crisp at every scale.
New
- The Media Library Manager takes PDFs: drop them in, file them into folders and find them again under Documents or the new PDF filter, with a real first-page thumbnail where the server can render one. The 3D Flip Studio reads them straight from the library.
Fixed
- Text effects with a size, gap or blur kept their pixel values when a design was resized, so more than fifty of them came out at the wrong scale.
- Remapping a shortcut onto a key the editor already uses now says so instead of quietly taking it over.
- Remove all plugin data really does remove all of it — the search index, the colour index and the per-user extension storage stayed behind until now.
Improved
- Settings has a one-click undo for its own last change.
Improved
- The editor downloaded the full, uncompressed template and combo packs on every install — several megabytes where a few hundred kilobytes would do. Opening the template library is noticeably quicker now.
Changed
- The plugin is now called WunderPaint. Only the name changes: your designs, templates, settings, versions and every extension stay exactly where they are, and the editor opens at the same address as before.
New
- Stop Sharing in the File menu revokes the public link of a design. Until now a shared link could not be taken back without deleting the design.
Security
- Uninstalling left a second, complete copy of your settings behind, API keys included.
- The team roster no longer tells non-administrators which accounts are administrators, and pages that only render a design no longer receive the field catalogue of your site or an inventory of your extensions.
- A request can only pin an AI model the site is configured to run for that action, so an expensive model cannot be billed at the cheapest rate.
Security
- Six routes now check per object whether you may actually touch it, among them the media usage count, the library maintenance routes and the AI 3D generation, which could read any image in the library.
Security
- Restoring a backup installed extensions through a second code path that skipped the SVG cleaner and the size limits. Both paths now share one writer that enforces the same rules.
New
- A Searches per 5 minutes setting under Costs & Budget throttles stock photo searches and map lookups per user, because they call third-party services on your behalf and a runaway client can get your site blocked.
- AI 3D generation is covered by the AI request limit as well, each route with its own bucket.
Security
- The post context used by dynamic bindings treated every published post as readable, so password protected posts and non-public post types were visible to anyone who may open the editor. It asks the WordPress capability system now.
- A full shared library dropped the oldest entries on save, which could remove items belonging to other editors; restoring a backup accepted any file name inside the version store, including .php.
- Every uploads folder the plugin creates now carries a rule that forbids executing code inside it, added automatically on existing installations.
Fixed
- On the settings screen, add-on tabs render as their own panels outside the core settings form, so their Save buttons work and Save Changes on the built-in tabs saves again.
Changed
- The plugin ships ten font families instead of the full set, cutting the download considerably. On first run the editor offers to download the full catalogue once to your own server, so every family stays local and no visitor browser ever contacts a font CDN.
Improved
- The local AI runtime (background removal, Smart Select, Depth Blur, local alt text and image search) is bundled with the plugin and runs entirely on the CPU engine — nothing is downloaded from a third-party CDN. One shared runtime cut the footprint from roughly 48 MB to about 11 MB.
New
- AI background layers carry a Reference field: name a custom field holding an image and automation runs re-imagine every post's background from its own image.
New
- Custom fields bind images too: bind an image layer to any meta key and it swaps to that field's image per post, the WordPress-standard way.
Improved
- The font picker is searchable: a filter field at the top of the dropdown searches brand, custom, editor and Google fonts as you type. With 300+ families the scroll-only list had outgrown itself.
New
- Deeplinks into extension studios: opening the editor with a slug launches that extension's dialog as soon as it has loaded — made for links that should land a visitor inside the right studio.
Improved
- The Extensions menu sorts into eight fixed, translated categories — Photo & Effects, Motion & Video, 3D & Mockups, Art & Illustration, Data & Diagrams, Marketing & Social, Print & Posters, Tools & Workflow — so fifty installed extensions stay as tidy as five.
New
- A standalone build: the entire editor bundled for any static host, no WordPress required, with IndexedDB for saved templates and designs, all extension studios loading statically, bring-your-own-key AI straight from the browser, and an installable PWA shell with offline caching. One codebase, two products.
New
- Demo mode: the whole REST namespace turns read-only through one central guard, the title bar's primary action becomes the fully client-side Download, and blocked writes explain themselves in all five languages. The library stays fully browsable behind a friendly note.
New
- System Status gained a Device & graphics section — browser, OS, display, CPU and RAM, and whether WebGL runs hardware-accelerated — included in the support log export.
Improved
- All seven 3D studios check WebGL before opening: a clear message instead of a frozen tab when it is missing, and a warning when only software rendering is available.
New
- Editing an image from Gutenberg or a page builder now asks where the result should go: a new copy, or overwriting the original with a used-elsewhere count and the previous file kept as a restorable version.
New
- Handbook 2.0: articles grouped into five categories, step-by-step walkthroughs with numbered steps, good-to-know tips, and action buttons that open the described dialog directly. Eight new articles, and a help icon in every dialog opens the handbook at the matching one.
- The handbook is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian.
Fixed
- Charts: value-axis labels get their own gutter instead of overlapping the first bars, waterfall reserves label space and carries its own legend, funnel keeps every segment wide enough for its label, and a header row is no longer mistaken for data.
New
- Non-destructive bullet and numbered lists per paragraph — the stored text keeps its raw form, the markers render in canvas, exports and SVG.
- 84 new vector shapes in ten element sets (arrows, banners and ribbons, bursts and seals, frames, callouts, stars and sparkles, botanicals, icons), plus 24 gradient backgrounds, 24 buttons and 18 headline lockups.
- While rotating a layer the selection badge shows the live angle in degrees instead of the size.
New
- The Growth Pack is included: 500 marketing starter templates (email and newsletter, popups and optins, online courses, social and Pinterest, WooCommerce) ship with the free plugin as five gallery categories.
- A non-destructive uppercase toggle for text, and arrowheads for both ends of a line — arrow, triangle, dot or bar — drawn in canvas renders and SVG exports alike.
Improved
- One control scale across the editor: panel inputs and dropdowns share a compact height instead of the 40px wp-admin forces, and modal rows line up.
New
- Line shapes get real endpoint handles: drag either end to re-aim the line, Shift snaps to 45° steps.
New
- Image optimization that runs in the browser: perceptual auto quality searches for the smallest file with no visible difference, preferring WebP with a JPEG fallback and capping dimensions. No cloud, nothing leaves the site.
New
- A 3D model library: models used by the 3D studios persist on your server, shared per site with owner-guarded deletes, so imported and AI-generated models survive reloads and stay editable.
- Meshy.ai integration: generate textured 3D models from an image or a prompt right inside the 3D studios. Every request is proxied through your server, so the key never reaches the browser.
New
- Eleven more text effects, 73 in total: waves, motif, camo and plaid fills, circuit board, bubbles, cracked, ripple distortion, star seal badge, hatch shadow and gradient outline.
- Thirty more one-click text styles, 87 in total.
New
- Eleven new text effects — sparkles, inline contour, contour lines, marquee lights, knockout, checker fill, halftone shade, TV static, LED board, origami fold and blueprint wireframe — all non-destructive with live sliders.
- Thirty new one-click text styles, from Vegas marquee and scoreboard to vaporwave, graffiti and frost.
New
- Dashed and dotted stroke styles with adjustable dash and gap for shape strokes and text outlines, in the options bar, the drawing tool and Properties.
- They survive the SVG round-trip: dashing exports as stroke-dasharray, and an imported SVG keeps its dashing as an editable stroke style.
Improved
- Working inside groups is direct now: with a group selected, a single click on one of its texts or elements selects just that element, clicks hop between the group's elements, double-click edits a text and Escape steps back out. Groups also expand while selected and collapse again in the layer panel.
New
- Crop to Image and Crop to Layer resize the canvas to exactly the selected layer's bounds, rotation-aware.
Fixed
- The Stock Images dialog crashed on open; searching and inserting from Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash works again, and every provider gained a Test connection button that runs a real search with the saved key.
Security
- The shared template, palette, library, automation-job and media-folder stores carry an owner: everything stays visible to the whole team, but only an entry's owner or an administrator can overwrite or delete it.
- Saving an image re-checks edit rights on the exact target attachment, and SVG sanitising is stricter in the extension installer and in the 3D Animation and Diagram studios.
Improved
- Project, design and template files compress on write — around 25% smaller for pixel-heavy designs and over 90% for vector-only ones — while every existing plain file stays readable.
New
- Weekly bestsellers: products can be sorted by the last seven days of real sales, so a top-sellers graphic ranks by what actually sold — combinable with the on-sale and in-stock filters.
New
- Any JSON API as a data source: the record set is found automatically, nested values flatten to dot paths, and the result arrives in the editor as columns and rows ready for field mapping.
New
- External feeds as an editor data source: any RSS or Atom URL is loaded and analysed, so podcast feeds deliver episode covers and durations, YouTube channel feeds their thumbnails and blog feeds their images. Showcase Studio turns them into designed graphics from one pasted URL.
New
- WooCommerce social-proof fields everywhere bindings work: review count, units in stock, a low-stock badge that only appears while stock is actually low, and the sale end date.
New
- Data-bound studio graphics refresh themselves: a Refresh entry rebuilds the whole layer group from live data, and inside dynamic templates and automations they re-render with fresh site data on every run.
New
- French, Brazilian Portuguese and Italian: the complete editor, all automations, settings, handbook and studios, over 3,700 strings each. A WordPress profile set to one of them gets the localized editor automatically.
New
- Spanish: the complete editor, automations, settings, handbook and studios, over 3,700 strings.
New
- Eighteen new chart and table types: combo, lollipop, heatmap, bullet, histogram, pictogram, dumbbell, slope, bump ranking and treemap; ranking with medal badges, schedule, checklist, menu with leader dots, spec sheet, scorecard tiles, calendar month and league standings — all as editable layer groups.
New
- Dynamic charts and tables: cells and titles accept tokens, and a table that pulls its rows from WordPress refreshes automatically inside dynamic templates, on export, in batch runs and in Preview with Post.
Improved
- Tables grow up: long cells wrap onto several lines and rows grow with their content, column widths are draggable in the studio grid, and new controls cover row height, cell padding, outer padding and header height.
New
- Chart & Table Studio: a type gallery with rendered preview cards, a large live preview next to a spreadsheet-style data grid with paste from Excel or Sheets, sort, transpose and per-column number formats, and design accordions on the right.
- Import your data: load CSV or TSV files, or pull rows straight from WordPress posts, products and their fields. The query is saved with the chart, so one click refreshes the numbers later.
- Ten named design presets, per-series control to rename, recolor, hide or dash without touching the data, and five new chart types: scatter, waterfall, funnel, gauge and a KPI tile with delta and sparkline.
New
- Export all pages: multi-page designs export in one go — raster formats as a ZIP with one file per page, PDF as one multi-page file with every page at its own size.
- Document tabs reinvented: one button shows the count of open documents and slides out a panel of preview cards with live thumbnails, and the limit rises from five to ten.
- Saved designs get their own tray tab next to My Assets.
Improved
- The text toolbar is decluttered, and extensions can use the editor's icon and emoji libraries and its full font catalogue instead of bundling their own.
Improved
- My Assets, properly managed: one card per category to drill into, rename and move in a single dialog, drag onto category chips, counts on the chips, and deleting always asks first.
New
- Panels float: detach Layers, Properties, Adjust, Effects, History, AI Studio or any extension panel into its own little window, so two panels work side by side. They only leave via their dock button and remember their spot.
Changed
- Dialogs no longer close when you click next to them, so a dialog dragged aside lets you work on the design behind it.
New
- Dialogs are movable: grab any dialog by its header and drag it where you need it, double-click to re-centre. Every studio and extension dialog included.
Improved
- Starter templates and text combinations ship pre-compressed and inflate in the browser, so opening the library pulls 1.0 MB instead of 3.9 MB on any host.
Improved
- The editor bundle drops from 7.3 MB to 1.3 MB: bundled templates and combos were being pulled into the eager bundle for every user, defeating the lazy content chunks.
New
- Vignette & Film, round two: seeded light leaks, frames from instant photo to filmstrip with perforation, and a glowing retro date stamp drawn as real seven-segment digits so it renders identically everywhere. Twelve presets, hold Compare for before and after.
Improved
- Extension template packs are first-class citizens of the template gallery: they respond to the category chips, colour dots and content search like the bundled set, and a pack can register its own categories.
New
- Vignette & Film studio: vignette in four shapes with strength, size, feather, centre and colour, plus optional film grain, dust and scratches, in one live-preview dialog. The result is a single overlay layer that reopens for editing and repaints itself at any document size.
- The text Style picker became the Annotate picker: hand-drawn doodles only, with real brush bands, hand-tilted circles, overshooting ends, double-loop and sketchy-box styles.
New
- Template gallery categories: every bundled template is filed under one of twelve occasions, with category chips and colour dots in the library and the create dialog.
- Template search understands content and colour — it matches the copy on a template's text layers and its palette, derived from the template data itself with no AI model involved.
New
- 101 new starter templates in fourteen collections — chrome and foil, neon nights, depth and extrude, warp lab, comic and print, editorial marker, glitch, sticker shop, letterpress, curved type and more — covering every text effect, warp, shape, pattern, layer style and blend mode the editor ships.
Fixed
- Layer factories now honour styles passed in their options; 58 bundled templates were rebuilt and got their intended strokes, shadows, texture opacities and vignettes back.
New
- Help Assistant: a built-in chatbot that answers how-do-I questions, grounded in the full feature documentation that ships with the plugin, so it names the exact menus, panels and buttons instead of guessing. Ask in any language, it answers in yours.
- When an answer matches one of the interactive tours it offers Show me, with spotlight steps over the live interface.
Improved
- Settings got a facelift: a branded header with quick links, a modern tab strip, softer cards, and a new About tab with the privacy notes, open-source credits and licence. Every service card explains what it powers and links to the page where you get the key.
Improved
- The document's brand kit is visible and switchable where it matters: at the top of the variable picker, in Preview with post, and on the preview chip above the canvas — one concept everywhere instead of hiding in the per-layer Properties panel.
New
- Dynamic smart objects: a smart object whose contents carry variables, bindings, variable QR codes or generator layers re-renders per post — in Preview with post, the Featured Images automation and dynamic image bakes — with the smart filters applied on the fresh content.
New
- The text Style dropdown became a real preset picker: a popover with live mini previews rendered from your own text, 26 one-click presets from circled and sketchy circle to crossed out, marker colours and up to five stacked outline rings.
- New text effect Strike / Cross: hand-drawn strike-through as a rough line, a double line or a big X.
New
- An Active on This Layer section at the top of the Effects panel: every non-destructive effect currently applied as a pill with one-click remove, text-effect pills reopening their settings and smart-filter pills toggling.
New
- Actions ship with a curated starter set: 56 one-click recipes in seven categories, from web sizes and photo fixes to privacy and AI steps and centred crops for the social formats. Built-ins are read-only, your own recordings sit on top.
- New action building blocks: crop to aspect ratio with an exact target size, resize by percent, and the three local AI steps.
Improved
- The block editor's media buttons — image, gallery, video, audio, file blocks and the featured-image panel — open the Media Library Manager directly through the official filter, with no modal in between. Add to gallery appends to the existing images, and every block receives the exact shape it expects.
New
- A grid and list toggle in the Media Library Manager: the list view shows real columns — preview, title and filename, type, dimensions, file size, upload date and author — with per-row actions.
- Author and upload-month filters fed by live facets, inline playback for video and audio straight from the tile, and copy file URL on any tile or row.
New
- The Media Library Manager handles the full library, not just images: videos, audio, PDFs and documents list with proper type tiles and their own filters, and folders, tags, search and bulk actions work across all of them.
New
- The Media Library Manager takes over the native pickers: every wp.media modal — classic editor, Gutenberg, Elementor, WooCommerce, page builders — gets a button that opens the manager above it, and picked images land in the modal's own selection. wp.media itself is never replaced, so nothing can break.
New
- A shared image picker: one setting makes the Media Library Manager the picker for editor tools and extensions, with the classic library one click away inside it.
- Blur Faces: a local AI tool that finds every face on the active layer and pixelates it beyond recognition. It replaces Split into Layers, whose OCR runtime is retired — the plugin ships 8 MB lighter.
Improved
- Smart objects with a Photoshop warp import as live deformations: the mesh is read from the PSD and applied on top of the placement, editing or replacing the contents re-renders with the full warp, and the mesh is written back on export so Photoshop restores the exact deformation.
Improved
- PSD import keeps the distort and perspective placement of smart objects, so editing or replacing the contents re-renders in the original perspective instead of a flat stretch — and the placement travels back into the PSD on export.
- Free Transform warps with true perspective foreshortening, matching Photoshop, and no longer shows hairline seams on flat colours.
New
- System Status shows a storage overview: a stacked bar of what versions, local AI models, extensions and the media library take on disk, with exact sizes and the free space.
New
- The save pipeline accepts PDFs, content-validated like every other format, so automation can store a print-ready PDF of each finished design.
New
- A Post content variable: the post body as clean plain text, HTML and shortcodes stripped, paragraph breaks kept and capped at a word boundary.
Security
- The extension installer rejects packages that would unpack far beyond their download size, neutralises active content in SVG assets while keeping inert artwork untouched, and asks for confirmation, since an extension runs with your permissions inside the editor.
Security
- The text edit overlay is hardened so a styled text layer from an opened project or template can never inject markup into the editor.
- My Designs are private to the user who created them, the binding resolver no longer returns protected post meta, and uploaded custom fonts are validated by content rather than by file extension.
New
- The Design Assistant can build a dynamic template: tick the box, choose which post fields to bind, and the generated headline, subhead, kicker and image are wired to them, so the design updates per post.
Fixed
- Rich text lost its formatting: a line styled with a different font kept its look, but re-opening the text for editing dropped that line's font, size and colour.
- Text no longer shifts when you enter or leave edit mode — the edit box positions its first line on the exact baseline the canvas renders.
New
- 40 new starter templates — posts, squares, stories and Open Graph — all fully native, plus a large refresh of the built-in element combos.
Improved
- Design Assistant redesign: clearer image options (no image, stock photo, placeholder or generate with AI, with a provider choice and an image-look field), brand and context as six fields in a grid, and more starting styles with richer descriptions.
New
- Four new texture layers: fibers, canvas weave, cross-hatch and concrete.
Improved
- Text on a path is editable: right-click and choose Edit Path to drag the curve's points and handles, and the text follows live.
New
- Text in a shape: click a shape with the Text tool and type text that flows inside its outline — a circle wraps the words into a round block, an arch or triangle tapers them, and the block auto-shrinks to fit.
- Convert to Path turns any inserted shape into an editable path, so its anchor points drag like a pen drawing.
New
- New library tools: regenerate thumbnails, rename by pattern with variables and a counter, and find broken files whose attachment has lost its file.
Improved
- Live search as you type, a collapsible tag list with a tag-cloud view, and the folder tools gathered into a compact Library tools menu.
New
- Smart upload: drag files onto the Media Library Manager and it warns when a near-identical image already exists, files new images straight into a folder, extracts colours, can describe them on import, and can downscale and convert to WebP to save space.
New
- Find similar images: select one and see the visually closest ones.
- Auto-organize names every suggested group at once and creates all the folders in one step, and a Reclaim space smart folder lists the biggest files first with a running total.
New
- Prefixes and suffixes can insert dynamic variables — site name, URL and tagline, brand kit fields, date and time, image details — and only the ones that resolve in that context are offered.
- A larger image detail view: preview, dimensions, file size, format, upload date, colours and URL on the left, editable title, alt text, caption, description and tags on the right.
New
- Filter by colour: dominant colours are extracted locally during indexing and matched by hue, so green finds dark green, a lawn and a leaf alike.
- AI auto-tag writes tags and a mood alongside the caption as real media tags in one pass, and a duplicate finder groups near-identical images so the extras can go.
Improved
- Semantic search combines with structured filters — folder, tag, colour, media type, file type, orientation, size — and the grid only renders visible tiles, so libraries with thousands of images stay smooth.
New
- Media Library Manager: a full-screen manager for your media with real, nestable folders and tags stored as native taxonomies, multi-select and bulk actions — move to folder, add or remove a tag, set as featured image, insert into the current design, download, trash.
- Semantic search inside the manager, smart folders for missing alt text, unused images and saved searches, and an AI pass that suggests folders by grouping visually similar images.
Improved
- The Alt Text Assistant is rebuilt: pick images from a grid, choose the engine — the local model or any configured provider — choose which fields to fill, then review and edit every suggestion before it is saved.
Improved
- Local AI uses your GPU automatically where the browser supports it, with no setting to flip. Smart Select deliberately stays on the CPU, because there is no switch that could turn on a broken path.
New
- Personal workspaces: hide the tools, panels, panel sections and menus you do not need and set the toolbar icon size. Switch between Full, Essentials and Minimal or save your own — purely cosmetic, nothing is switched off and anything comes back at any time.
- A customize-by-clicking mode: turn it on and click any area of the editor to hide or show it.
New
- Edit in place from the media picker too: the Edit Image button in the media modal opens the full editor in the same overlay and hands the edited copy back to whatever opened the picker.
New
- Edit images in place in the block editor: the Gutenberg image block's Edit Image button opens the full editor in the same overlay and drops the edited copy straight back into the block.
New
- Edit images right inside Elementor: every image control gets an Edit Image button that opens the full editor in an overlay on that exact picture, without leaving the page. Apply drops it back as a fresh, bound copy, so the original media stays untouched everywhere else.
Improved
- The Text tool drops a ready-to-type box on a single click, and it grows: paste a whole paragraph and it wraps and stretches to fit instead of running off as one endless line.
- New justify alignment for area text — soft-wrapped lines spread to fill the box while a paragraph's last line stays natural, exactly like print.
New
- A true 3D text effect, the fiftieth: extruded perspective text with shaded depth receding along an adjustable angle, a glossy face with a gloss streak, a dark base outline and a bright bevel edge — from purple to gold to chrome-pink game-logo looks.
New
- Six more text effects: two tone, gold foil with sparkle glints, retro stack, misprint in the riso style, directional fade and soft blur.
New
- Eight new text effects, each with a live preview tile and adjustable settings: gradient, chrome, comic dots, spray, highlight, underline in four styles, sticker die-cut and speed lines.
Improved
- The Design Assistant art-directs the actual layout instead of filling one fixed template: it returns a real composition — a background plus positioned elements on a grid — using the editor's own toolbox of gradients, patterns, organic shapes, text effects and highlight pills, with text auto-fit, readable contrast and canvas bounds guaranteed.
Improved
- Design Assistant 2.0 — the model plans, the code perfects. It delivers a semantic plan (style profile, mood, palette intent, real copy, typography category, layout archetype) and the editor composes from it, then runs a finisher pass for contrast autofix, soft shadows, mood-driven image grades and grid snapping. One plan becomes three variant previews.
New
- Moods and vibes join the style presets: twelve feelings from cool and professional to dramatic, luxurious and calm, each its own slot next to the art style so watercolour plus romantic combines.
New
- Easy Mode: a beginner shell for people who have never seen a layer-based editor — a slim bar, seven friendly tools and one guided panel that follows the selection, with one-click filters, quick effects, AI magic tools and the extension studios. Documents are identical to the full editor and you can switch back at any time.
New
- AI style presets: 36 curated looks — watercolour, anime film, cyberpunk, 3D animation, steampunk, vaporwave, Bauhaus, claymation and more — each backed by a hand-written, subject-neutral descriptor that composes with generation, enhancement, sketch-to-image and background replacement.
New
- Dynamic variables in text layers: unbound text mixes literal words with tokens and resolves per post in every dynamic-template pipeline, with auto-fit. If every variable in a text comes up empty the layer hides itself.
New
- Dynamic variables in QR codes: every content field accepts tokens, so one template gives each post its own scannable code. An empty value hides the layer.
- New binding fields: post link, tags, last updated, reading time and WooCommerce stock status.
Improved
- Dynamic templates are first-class documents: opening one takes the template's name and shows a Template badge, and saving writes it back in place instead of a save-as detour.
New
- Text on a path: draw a path with the pen tool, click it with the text tool, and the text flows along it — rich text, letter spacing and multi-line included, with path start, reverse direction and detach in Properties. The path is copied onto the text layer, so projects stay self-contained.
Changed
- Menu restructure: Automation keeps only real automation, the single creative tools move into a new Tools menu, and the Extensions menu becomes the launcher with one entry per installed extension.
New
- Enhance Layer recreates the active layer at much higher quality while keeping the same subject, colours and composition; Enhance Design takes the whole canvas as a reference and redesigns it to a professional standard, keeping layout and text.
New
- A full table design system: a gallery of twelve premium styles with live previews of your own data and a Shuffle button that generates genuinely different layouts, plus fine controls for text size, header treatment, row style, frame, density, corner radius and marker style — all rendered as editable shape and text layers.
New
- The Chart Generator becomes Chart & Table: alongside the nine chart types it builds data tables (paste from Excel or Sheets), comparison tables where yes/no cells become check and cross marks, and pricing tables with a guided form for tiers — all as editable layer groups you can reopen.
New
- Calendar Studio imports dates: an .ics export or a .csv spreadsheet is read in the browser and its events become highlights, including multi-day ranges. The month view can show small neighbour months in the corners, the classic wall-calendar look.
New
- Five more calendar types: a landscape year wall planner, a year-in-pixels mood tracker, a countdown poster, an advent calendar with 24 numbered doors and a school timetable.
- Automatic public holidays for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with Easter and its movable feasts computed locally and unit-tested against documented dates.
New
- Two showpiece calendars: a year wheel with month sectors, daily tick marks, a moon-phase band and equinox and solstice rays, and a life calendar in weeks or years with the lived cells filled.
New
- Calendar Studio grows to eight types: multi-month view, moon phase calendar, perpetual birthday calendar, week planner and habit tracker join month, year and opening hours.
- A marker pack with eight highlight shapes and their own colours, range pills across days for holidays and school breaks, an automatic legend line, and optional moon phases computed locally.
New
- Calendar Studio: month grids, year overviews and opening-hours cards as poster-style layers, with highlighted dates, a today marker, ISO week numbers, localized weekday and month names, eight themes and a title block — all as real editable layers.
New
- Map Studio: poster-style maps of any place on earth with a live pan and zoom preview, ten design themes, water, parks, rail and building toggles, sea fill stitched from coastlines, geocoded pins with route lines and distance, shape masks and a classic title block — inserted as real editable layers with automatic attribution.
- The map data goes through a server-side proxy with caching, so the browser never talks to OpenStreetMap directly.
New
- Text effects, round three: inner glow, neon tube, motion blur, marker highlight, circle mark and scribble underline that follow the exact text lines, paper cut, 8-bit pixelate, sketch outline, confetti, retro stripes and drips — all with sliders and seeded variants.
- Eight new one-click styles bring the gallery to 27 looks.
New
- Text effects, round two: chromatic aberration, glitch with sliced displacement, shine, scanlines, grunge erosion, stitch outline and a perspective ground shadow, each with its own sliders and combinable with everything else.
New
- A Text Styles gallery in the Effects tab: one-click looks — sticker, comic, gold, chrome, neon, fire, ice, retro 3D, letterpress, reflection, wave — rendered as live previews with your own text.
- New text effects: multi outline with up to three coloured rings, bevel and letterpress edge shading, image fill from the media library, letter dance and colour cycle, all non-destructive and combinable with warps.
Improved
- The local caption model is now Florence-2: much better captions, roughly eight times faster, still fully in your browser with no API key. The old model files clean themselves up after the new download.
- On non-English sites a small local translation model turns alt text into your site language.
New
- Backups include installed extensions, uploaded custom fonts and brand kit watermark files, and a restore remaps logos and watermarks to freshly imported attachments. Reproducible data — models, search index, counters — is deliberately skipped.
New
- A Fonts tab in Settings: upload your own woff2, woff, ttf or otf house fonts, served from your own site, and optionally enable the Google Fonts catalogue. Both appear as extra groups in the font picker and work in all text layers and exports.
Improved
- Batch Watermark is one modal: pick any media-library image as the watermark through a searchable picker, tune position, size, opacity and margin with a live preview, select the target images, run. The last used settings are simply remembered.
- Watermarks also live in brand kits, so each kit's mark is a one-click choice.
New
- System Status: a visual overview of the whole installation — active extensions, local AI models, the semantic search index with its controls, template, font and effect counts, provider status and version checks.
- A built-in debug log records errors, failed requests and model events in memory and exports as one JSON file for support, never containing document content, images or API keys.
New
- Semantic image search, fully local: install the model once, index your library, and the search finds images by meaning — "dog on the beach" finds IMG_2847.jpg. Nothing leaves the browser and each image stores a fingerprint of about a kilobyte.
Fixed
- JPEG and PDF export of transparent documents no longer turns the background black — the backdrop colour is picked in the export dialog.
- Rotated layers behave around their frame: group and multi-selection frames wrap the real rotated footprint, resize cursors rotate with the box, and the right-click menu hits rotated layers correctly.
- New documents warn above 8000 px per side and stop at 16000 px, beyond which browsers fail silently with a blank canvas.
Improved
- Committing a brush stroke no longer re-encodes every untouched raster layer, and soft strokes reuse one scratch buffer instead of allocating per frame.
Fixed
- Real brush flow, the Photoshop way: flow controls how fast paint builds up stamp by stamp so overlaps within one stroke darken like an airbrush, while opacity caps the whole stroke. Before, flow was secretly just a second opacity slider.
Fixed
- Vectorize actually works: the tracer was fed angle thresholds in the wrong unit, so every corner got shaved off, and anti-aliased edges traced into mushy fringe paths. Flat artwork is now snapped to its real palette before tracing, so a six-shape illustration yields six clean paths instead of two hundred.
Improved
- Clicks are pixel-accurate: Select, Move, double-click and the paint bucket target the element you actually see and fall through transparent areas, so vectorized images and SVG imports select the shape under the cursor instead of the topmost bounding box.
- Smart Select and Magic Wand draw real marching ants along the object edge, and the refine card offers both directions — keep this, or remove this — as non-destructive masks.
New
- A Select tool next to Move that picks the element you actually click, even inside groups — recolour a single shape of an imported SVG right on the canvas instead of hunting through the layer panel.
New
- Smart Select got a friendly finish: after clicking a subject a small refine bar appears with soft edge and grow/shrink sliders and a one-click Cut Out that applies the result as a layer mask — made for people who have never touched masks.
Improved
- The local AI stack moved to a runtime with a WebGPU engine, so Smart Select, Depth Blur, local alt text and word salience use the GPU where the browser offers one and fall back to CPU everywhere else.
- Depth Blur runs on a better depth model, and Vectorize was rebuilt on a self-hosted Rust and WebAssembly tracer with smooth full-colour spline tracing at doubled input resolution.
Fixed
- Soft brushes feather properly: round tips with softness render a true smooth falloff instead of the old stepped three-ring approximation that left hard edges.
New
- Eleven new brush tips — ink pen, pixel, splatter, snow, glitter, rings, bubbles, hearts, triangles, crosses and petals — for 36 in total.
New
- A content drop: 360 new text combinations across buttons and badges, headlines, lists, quotes, sales and events, a new Stats & Numbers category with 60 KPI callouts and mini bar charts, and 59 new starter templates for posts, stories, pins, OG images, YouTube thumbnails and LinkedIn banners.
New
- Extension platform 2.0: install add-on packages as a ZIP directly inside the editor — no WordPress plugin entry, editor page only, never any server code. Fresh installs go live without a reload, and the manager shows versions, registration points, load errors and enable/disable per package.
- New registration points for design generators with an automatic Edit entry for generated layers, Asset Library sections for asset packs, Properties-panel sections gated per layer, and menu items.
New
- Path editing: double-click a pen shape or icon and its anchor points appear — drag points and bezier handles, click the outline to add a point, Alt-click to remove one, double-click to toggle corner and smooth. Rotated and flipped shapes included.
- Layer styles on groups: drop shadow, stroke, glow and friends apply to a group's combined silhouette, Photoshop-style, with no smart object conversion.
New
- Mockup Generator: puts your artwork or the flattened document onto a studio product shot — ebook, software box, DVD or CD case, report stack, monitor — rendered locally with perspective, light, gloss and shadow controls, and reopenable with all settings.
New
- Reposition inside the frame: double-click any cover or contain image layer and drag the picture freely inside its box, with a ghost preview of the full image.
- Shapes as frames: drop an image onto any shape and it lands cover-fitted and clipped into it.
New
- Drop-to-replace: dragging an image onto a placed image layer swaps the picture inside the existing box with a centred cover crop — position, size, rotation, mask and styles all survive. Hold Alt to insert as a new layer instead.
New
- Chart Generator 2.0: nine chart types from grouped and stacked bars to smoothed lines, pie, donut, radar and KPI progress rings, multi-series data with paste from Excel or Sheets, brand-kit colours, axes and gridlines with friendly tick values, labels, legend and titles — all as editable vector layers you can re-edit later.
Changed
- The local AI runtime no longer ships inside the plugin: administrators download it once, after which it is served from your own site exactly as before. The install package shrinks from about 46 MB to about 20 MB.
New
- Save as Pattern turns the current document into a pattern tile, transparency preserved, immediately available as a shape fill and as a pattern overlay.
- Patterns live on the server instead of per browser, so they survive browser changes, appear for every user and travel in backups.
- Open document tabs survive a page reload — the editor offers to restore the other documents from your last session.
New
- Illustrations and vector graphics join the photos in the Asset Library tray, with the same category cards and search-as-you-type.
New
- Document tabs: work on several documents side by side. New documents, templates and library designs open in a new tab instead of replacing your current work, a dot marks unsaved changes, and closing a dirty tab asks first.
New
- Screenshot Beautifier: wraps an image in a rounded card with adjustable shadow and border, grows the canvas with padding and aspect presets, adds browser, window or phone chrome or generative deco frames, and drops a background behind it — everything as editable layers in a group.
New
- Background Studio: a deterministic background generator with four styles — mesh gradient, organic blobs and waves, geometric dots, grid, stripes and rays, and low-poly — fed by brand kits or saved swatch sets, with per-style sliders, a seed for endless variations and a grain overlay. Everything runs locally and reopens with the exact settings.
New
- Color Schemer: five lockable swatch slots driven by colour-theory harmonies, with saturation, lightness and spread sliders, colour extraction from the current document or any library image, and a live design preview. Saved swatch sets appear in every colour picker.
New
- QR code studio: links, plain text, email, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi access and vCard contacts, with styled modules and finder eyes, custom colours, transparent background, quiet-zone and error-correction options, a centre logo and a live preview with scannability warnings.
New
- Scheduled remote backups to any S3-compatible storage: endpoint, bucket and keys in the Backup tab, a daily or weekly schedule, retention, and test-connection and back-up-now buttons. Remote archives never contain API keys.
New
- A Backup tab: export everything the editor stores — brand kits including logo files, dynamic templates, designs, library assets, content templates, settings, optionally API keys and the image version history — as one portable ZIP, and restore it on the same or another site with automatic logo re-import.
Changed
- Clear save wording — Save as New Image, Save Editable Design, Save as Dynamic Template, Save as Asset — grouped in the File menu by destination, and the plugin's own library is called the Asset Library everywhere, ending the mixup with the WordPress Media Library.
New
- Vertical text alignment for area text: top, middle or bottom inside the text box, from the character panel or the floating context bar. Perfect for text on buttons and shapes.
New
- Brand-kit data as dynamic content: bind text layers to the company profile and the kit's custom variables. Bindings bind by key, so one template works for every client kit.
New
- Brand kits are managed inside the editor: colours, fonts, logo, company profile and custom variables in one dialog, with saved changes applying immediately to the colour and font quick picks and to open AI dialogs.
Improved
- Slow AI calls survive shared hosting: the response hands back a job handle immediately, the work continues on the server and the client polls, so a gateway timeout after a minute no longer kills a long generation.
New
- 120 new bundled text templates across headlines, buttons and badges, lists, quotes, sales and events, plus 14 new shapes.
New
- Brand kits gained an optional company profile — company, contact, email, address, website, industry, description — and custom key/value variables, which power AI content generation as placeholders.
New
- A small-screen gate: on phones the editor shows a friendly built-for-bigger-screens note with a way back and a continue-anyway escape hatch, and rotating or resizing past the breakpoint unlocks it automatically.
New
- From Post in the AI Studio: pick a post and its title, excerpt and content ride along with your prompt, for quick article infographics.
- Vectorize as a local tool — it traces the active image into editable vector shapes fully in the browser, with no model download and no key.
- An include-brand-details checkbox appends your brand kit's colours and fonts to the prompt.
New
- A personal asset library: Save to Library stores the current selection, groups included, as one asset in a category you pick or create on the spot, and My Assets lists your categories as chips. Inserting an asset lands it centred as editable layers.
New
- A Costs & Budget tab: a monthly limit with a progress bar, cards for this month, today, requests and budget left, a stacked 30-day cost chart per provider and a per-model breakdown.
- Prices per model are editable right on the model cards, because provider prices change weekly.
Changed
- Usage metering records real consumption — token counts from every response and actual image counts — instead of flat per-action guesses.
New
- Every text AI feature runs on any text-capable provider now, not just one, with a default text provider setting and per-provider model overrides.
- Illustration in Generate with AI: the text model draws a colourful vector illustration as SVG, imported as a group of editable shape layers with a preview before inserting.
New
- Multiple brand kits: any number of kits with real colour pickers, fonts and a per-kit logo, with existing brand settings migrating into a default kit automatically.
New
- Image Fit for image layers: cover crops the picture to fill its box, fit letterboxes it, and an anchor grid picks which part survives — a non-destructive crop, so resizing the box moves the image without distortion.
- Dynamic images use the same fit, so featured images, product images and AI backgrounds of any size land undistorted in the template box.
New
- Smart objects made in the editor export to PSD as real Photoshop smart objects, with an inner PSD carrying the original editable layers, instead of a flattened picture.
- A rotation handle for groups, and double-clicking a smart object on the canvas opens its contents for editing.
Fixed
- One selection semantic everywhere: groups are solid units across the whole editor, so marquee selection picks whole groups, align and distribute use the same unit logic as the context bar, and duplicate, copy, cut and arrow-key nudging resolve the same units.
- A locked layer freezes its whole group for moves, aligns and nudges, instead of letting the free members tear the layout apart.
- The Transform panel understands groups: X and Y move the union bounds as one unit, W and H show the union size, and flipping mirrors the whole group.
New
- Auto-generation on publish: a newly published post without a featured image is queued automatically, the template coming from the category mapping or the saved default, and any open editor picks the queue up and generates in the background.
New
- Right-click with a paint tool opens a quick HUD at the cursor with size and hardness sliders and a live tip preview, so there is no trip to the options bar.
New
- Dynamic data sources: the binding dropdown became a catalogue built per site — post fields, author, site, WooCommerce products with price, strike-through price, discount, rating and product image, and all ACF text and image fields with their real labels.
- A Custom field binding covers any post-meta key, and every public post type is available in the automation screen and the preview picker.
New
- SEO integration: with Yoast or Rank Math active, the automation can set the rendered image as the social image and generate an SEO title and meta description per post.
- Per-category templates, so posts pick their template by category during bulk runs, and an optional style reference image that keeps a consistent look across a whole batch.
New
- Post automation: search and filter your posts, bulk-select them, pick a dynamic template and press Process. Per post an AI background is generated from the article's content, cropped to the template canvas, all placeholders resolve, and the composite renders at full resolution and is saved as the featured image with alt text.
- Batch progress survives reloads: jobs live in a server-side queue with live status per post, resume, retry and skip-if-already-set.
New
- Dynamic templates: bind text layers to post variables — title, excerpt, author, category, date, site name — and image layers to the featured image, the brand logo or an AI background slot.
New
- 29 new shapes in four sets — symbols, banners, nature and geometric — and 28 new gradient presets, 94 in total.
New
- The text library grew to around 290 lockups in six browsable categories: buttons and badges, headlines, lists, quotes and reviews, sales and prices, events and news — all fully editable and mostly powered by the per-character rich-text engine.
Changed
- The whole interface moved to one curated icon set — tool rail, panel tabs, text styling, align and distribute, layer actions, undo and redo — for crisper, more recognisable glyphs.
New
- Local word importance for layouts: an optional multilingual model scores which word actually carries your message, so generated layouts accent the meaningful word — SALE, the price, the date — instead of merely the longest one. Without it everything keeps working on the built-in heuristics.
New
- AI layout suggestions: describe a mood and the model acts as a typographic art director, re-flowing your exact wording into four designed lockups with roles, font pairings and the key word accented. Everything stays fully editable text.
New
- Dynamic text layouts: the Layout button opens a preview panel with six rendered suggestions of your own text — curated font pairings, modular scales and smart role detection, where prices, numbers and dates automatically become accents. Shuffle rolls endless new variations.
New
- Real rich text editing: select individual words or characters while editing and give just that selection its own font, size, colour, bold, italic or underline, straight from the options bar. It all stays one text layer.
- Editing is WYSIWYG — a styled text shows exactly as rendered instead of falling back to the base formatting — and area text re-wraps when you make the box narrower or wider instead of clipping.
Improved
- Text layouts no longer split the text into a group: a text layer can carry per-line styles, so a layout styles the lines in place inside the original bounding box. Sentences split automatically, clicking again cycles the layouts, and the original wording is remembered.
New
- The text layout button: select a multi-line text layer and the lines are styled into a designed lockup with mixed fonts and sizes. Click again to cycle through eight layouts — poster, impact, hero, editorial, contrast, handwritten, minimal, quote.
- Five new text effects with preview tiles — outline, neon, splice, halftone and reflection — and seven new warp presets.
New
- Free Transform works on text, shapes and gradients, not just pixel layers: drag the four corners for perspective or a free distort while the text stays fully editable.
New
- A Warp section for text layers: bend the text along a preset shape — arc, arch, bulge, flag or wave — with a bend slider, non-destructive and live-previewed as tiles.
New
- Extract Colors from Image pulls the dominant colours of the selected image into the colour picker as their own swatch row.
New
- A Text Effects panel, all non-destructive with the text staying editable: long shadow with angle, length and colour, block shadow and 3D extrude, and skew.
New
- Unsplash as a third stock-photo provider, and quick category buttons in the photos section so you can browse without typing a search first.
Changed
- Saved library items are stored on your server instead of in one browser, so they persist across browsers and devices and appear in the full Library dialog.
New
- Save to Library: save the selected element, text combination or background straight into your library, where it appears immediately in the tray and inserts with one click.
New
- Generate with AI in the library tray: describe what you want and four options come back — a colour gradient, a text lockup with your exact wording, or a vector element. Preview them, then insert one or all, or regenerate.
New
- A Navigator preview: a small live thumbnail of the whole canvas above the right-panel tabs.
New
- Split into Layers turns a flat image into editable layers: on-device OCR reads the text and recreates each line as an editable text layer matching position, size and colour, then erases it from the image with a local inpaint. Fully local, no API key.
New
- Local, in-browser AI with no cloud and no API key, the models downloaded once to your own server: Smart Select, where you click an object to select it and refine with added points; Depth Blur, a graduated portrait blur from a local depth map; and a keyless local engine for alt text.
- The AI panel splits into local tools that are free and need no key, and cloud actions that do.
Changed
- All fonts are self-hosted — the editor loads nothing from any CDN — and the built-in library grew past 70 families shipped with the plugin. Better privacy, works offline, no external requests.
Changed
- The side panels are reorganised: a new Effects tab gathers filters, pixel effects and layer styles in one place, each with a live rendered preview of your layer, while Adjust becomes purely tonal.
New
- Shapes can be filled with a linear gradient — a gradient bar and angle exactly like text — for rectangles, ellipses, stars and custom paths.
New
- From Sketch: rough out a composition across several layers, then turn the whole canvas into a finished image. The flattened sketch goes as the reference and the result arrives as a new full-canvas layer above it.
New
- A visual brush-tip gallery in the options bar: hard round, soft round, flat, calligraphy, spray or chalk from small rendered stroke previews — and each tip genuinely changes how strokes paint, with the calligraphy nib varying thick and thin with direction. Soon after, 26 tips.
New
- A selected layer shows its size just under its bounding box, and while you drag, the live distance to each canvas edge — so precise sizing and placement stop being guesswork.
New
- 18 new built-in templates across formats and industries — square posts, stories, blog and OG images, a YouTube thumbnail, LinkedIn and webinar banners and a Pinterest pin — all opening as fresh, fully editable documents.
New
- A template authoring workflow: design a document, export it as a template file, and it becomes a fresh starter template in the library. Bundled templates load on demand, so they never slow the editor's start.
New
- A command palette: every command searchable — menu actions, dialogs, tools and the whole effects list.
- Contrast Check gives a WCAG rating for every text layer against what actually lies under it, and clicking a result selects the layer.
- Drag and drop from the library tray straight onto the canvas, a Recent section for your last 20 inserted assets, and Alt-drag to duplicate any layer in place.
New
- The library tray: a collapsible dock under the canvas with section chips for text, elements, backgrounds, icons, emoji and uploads, and horizontally scrolling previews — one click inserts and the tray stays open for the next asset.
New
- Text combinations: 13 professionally styled headline groups — eyebrow, headline and subline, italic accents, mixed serif and sans pairings, dividers and badges — that adapt to the canvas size and your first brand colour, with every line staying an editable text layer.
New
- AI Design Assistant: describe what you need and the model designs the layout — background, image slot, overlays, typography — your image provider renders the photo, and everything lands as normal editable layers. Brand kit colours and fonts and a reference image can flow in.
New
- Resize Design retargets a design to another format, with layers scaling uniformly and recentring so nothing distorts.
- Multi-page designs with a pages strip, photo frames with fit-into-frame, text style presets, and three new library sections for elements, backgrounds and uploads.
- Share Design Link: a public, read-only page showing the rendered design behind an unguessable token — image only, never the editable source.
New
- My Designs: a home for your layered working files. Save Design keeps a fully editable copy on the server, separate from templates and flattened exports, and the library lists them newest-first with previews to open, duplicate, rename or delete.
New
- A contextual options bar: with the Move tool, the bar next to the menus shows the selected layer's key controls — font, size, weight, alignment and colour for text; fill, stroke and pattern for shapes; opacity and blend mode for images.
- Scrubby number fields: drag horizontally on a field's label to change the value, Photoshop-style.
New
- Fill layers and texture layers — grain, paper, colour noise, scanlines — with fitting blend modes, and one-click duotone presets.
- Apply Palette remaps every colour in the document onto the palette of an image layer or your brand colours, for instant rebranding.
- Batch Watermark for many library images at once, and export as PDF or as a complete favicon set.
New
- Six built-in starter templates — quote, minimal, sale story, video thumbnail, event banner, product promo — as fully editable documents with live previews.
- Nine new procedural pattern fills: grid, diagonal, crosshatch, zigzag, waves, bricks, plus, triangles and scales.
New
- A Photoshop-style brush cursor: brush, pencil, eraser, clone stamp and FX brush show a circle of their actual on-canvas size.
- Three new quick actions: Replace BG, Crop to Subject and Sticker, the last two entirely local.
Fixed
- True outpainting: the provider result is no longer stretched over the canvas but cropped to cover and composited back only into the empty areas with a soft seam, so your original pixels stay byte-identical.
New
- Aspect-ratio control for AI generation, mapped to each provider's native grid, with edits and outpaints requesting the aspect nearest to your canvas automatically.
Fixed
- Outpaint actually outpaints: the mask was silently dropped on the way to the server, so providers never knew which margins to fill.
- A group's contents disappeared from the canvas whenever a layer above the group was selected, emoji were cut off where glyphs overshoot the em box, and scaling an inserted icon now rescales its vector path and stroke width.
New
- AI models are configurable: override the model for every slot, or leave it empty for the defaults.
New
- A central Library: one place for your saved templates with previews, icons, emoji, pattern tiles and the brand kit, plus quick links to stock photos, the media library, charts and QR codes. The separate icon, emoji and pattern dialogs merged into it.
New
- An animation timeline: every visible top-level layer is a frame, with thumbnails, reorder, per-frame delay, onion skin and a play preview, exporting as GIF, APNG or WebM.
- SVG import and export — paths, rects, circles, polygons and text open as editable vector layers, and vector layers are written natively on export.
- Layer comps, a guides and grid manager with numeric guides and thirds, golden-ratio and margin presets, a pattern library for your own seamless tiles, charts from data as editable vector groups, an emoji picker with 1,914 searchable emoji and carousel export.
- The first brand kit: brand colours in the colour picker, brand fonts pinned in the font picker and Insert Logo.
- Colour-blindness proofing for protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia and greyscale, and remappable keyboard shortcuts with conflict detection.
New
- Series graphics from CSV: column placeholders in text layers, one library image per row, and file names from a column you choose.
- Portable project files that move layered documents between sites, an icon library of over 5,000 icons inserted as editable vector shapes, QR-code layers from any URL, and a gradient preset library.
- The Alt Text Assistant scans the media library for images without alt text and fills them by AI captioning.
- Post workflow: after saving, set the image as a post's featured image or insert it into a new draft.
New
- Four more non-destructive layer styles — bevel and emboss, inner glow, satin and pattern overlay — completing the set at ten.
- The canvas right-click menu offers the common tools per layer type: edit text, free transform, rasterize, add layer mask, convert to smart object, blending options, arrange and delete.
New
- A built-in handbook: searchable help articles covering every area of the editor, fully translated, with question-mark buttons in the export, create, stock and batch dialogs jumping straight to the relevant article.
- Guided how-tos: interactive step-by-step walkthroughs that highlight the real interface.
New
- One-click auto levels, auto contrast and auto colour, all local and macro-recordable.
- A blur and sharpen brush, symmetry painting that mirrors strokes, and Free Transform to distort any pixel layer by its corners.
- Alt as measure mode showing pixel distances to canvas edges and hovered layers, a quick-export button, copy to clipboard in the export dialog and Open Recent.
New
- The Magic Wand: select by colour, as a contiguous flood or a whole-image colour range with adjustable tolerance.
- Remove Object works without any API key — a local content-aware fill takes over when no AI provider is configured.
- A complete German translation of the admin pages and the entire editor.
New
- A Navigator minimap with a draggable viewport and zoom slider, zoom to selection and zoom to layer.
- A searchable font picker that previews every family in its own face, a layer filter box with colour labels, and a floating context bar above the active layer.
- A shape library, brush and export presets, a screen colour picker, social crop presets with title-safe zones, a first-run tour and pressure-sensitive pen input.
New
- Nine new pixel effects — vignette, tilt-shift, colour splash, halftone, glitch, glow, emboss, edge detect — and colour LUTs from .cube files, usable as a smart filter.
- Actions: record filter, effect, adjustment and geometry sequences, replay them, save looks and export them as JSON.
- Batch processing applies an action and export settings to many library images at once, and the first extension API arrives with an example extension and developer docs.
New
- Fifty curated fonts in the text tool, curved text that bends any text layer along an arc, stock image search from inside the editor through a server-side proxy, and a configurable watermark on export.
New
- Select Subject with local AI segmentation and one-click Remove Object.
- Curves and levels adjustments, also as smart filters, autosave with crash recovery, reusable project templates and the clone stamp.
- Multi-size batch export as a ZIP with smart cover-crop, persistent draggable guides with snapping, AVIF export with a true output-size preview, and an Edit button on Gutenberg image blocks.
New
- The first release: a complete layer-based editor inside WordPress, with the tools, masks, blend modes and non-destructive adjustments the rest of this list was built on.
